Tip for cooking beans

As an alternative to presoaking beans, my sister “Lily” just told me that she puts them in the microwave for 5 minutes and the cooks them in the pressure cooker or crockpot.

My Aunt Pearl (A”H) was a gourmet cook. She used to boil the dry beans in a pot and then turn off the heat and let them soak until cool.

I guess her method predates the microwave.
